Back to the Grind

School started two weeks ago. I have a 3rd grader and a 4Ker. I can't believe it.

It is going really well so far. There is a lot of review the first few weeks so I am anxious to get in to the "new" stuff and see how it goes. Third grade is different in that you are reading for knowledge not to learn to read so there are a lot more quizzes involved. Jordyn is a great reader and she loves to do it which makes my job a lot easier! So far her comprehension of the material is going well.

Jana Claire is doing well and still enjoying it! She is beginning to write her letters and numbers. I had to get past my "perfectionistic" tendancy and realize that it is the 3rd week. She has just started writing and it will not be perfect.

There is pressure on me as a home school mom (that I put on myself)  I think if and when they go to public school (which is always a possibility) I want them to be in the appropriate grade for their age. It would be a kick to the gut if the school said, "Well, we are going to have to hold them back...two years!" I know in my heart that would not happen but my head plays these awful games with me. So, that is where the perfection comes to play. No other place in my life, except maybe toilet cleaning, is perfection a problem. If you don't believe me just ask Joey. :)

So, I thought I would update you on the "hairy situation". I'm done with this long lock business. I mean I have enjoyed it but it is too long for me. I'm going next week to get a new do. Now, I will not chop it all off so don't get nervous but I am going to bring it up a little above my shoulders. And as you look at the next picture you will see why.

It has really gotten long, I know.

So, I hope to get this taken care of next week and be able to take another pic with a better do than this!

I took pictures of the girls on the first day of school...but the camera is all the way across the room so I will post those next time.

Just call me lazy, I don't care!

Signing off,
The Lazy Toilet Perfectionist
